More about Moses Ayers, Patriot

"Moses Ayers first settled in Virginia where he fought in the French and Indian War under George Washington. After service in the Revolutionary War he moved to North Carolina, and then to the Reed Creek District of Franklin County, Georgia, now Hart County. He was married three times, his last wife being Abigail Payne, and raised a large family." -- [Source: "The History of Stephens County, Georgia 1715-1972" By Kathryn Curtis Trogden]

"Moses has been accepted as a soldier-patriot in the Revolution by the Daughters of the American Revolution and his grave was marked with an historical marker in June of 1976. He took an Oath of Allegiance in Pittsylvania County in 1777; he was on the list of Charles Kennon's Militia Company in 1778, and he submitted a claim for reimbursement for supplies and services provided to the militia. In March 1781 the Battle of Guilford Courthouse in North Carolina occurred about 50 miles from Moses' farm in southern Pittsylvania County, Virginia." -- [Source: Henning, Frank A., "Some Ayers and Heirs," March 1981.]
