Grave Site of
Capt. Patrick Knox
(b.
c1750 - d. June 1780, NC)
Patrick Knox, resident of Mecklenburg
County, NC, was killed in the Battle of Ramsour's Mill and buried on
the "southern eyebrow of the battlefield" in present-day Lincolnton,
Lincoln County, NC. He shares a common tomb with four of seven
Whig Captains who, with unfailing loyalty gave their lives that June day
in 1780,
for the cause of American Independence.
This grave site was restored
in 1955 by the Jacob Forney Chapter, NSDAR, Lincolnton, NC
